Thankful

I'm thankful for a lot:

People;

Things;

Blessings.

But most of all, I'm thankful that I'm still here to be thankful for all of these. Despite the number of times I've looked down the narrow black hole of despair, believing with nearly all of my being that there was no point to continue existing, I've never actually lept into that pit. I've entertained the idea, considered how I might hurdle myself down the chasm, whether to have my eyes open or closed when I descend, what the depths might look like to others after I'd plummeted into them, or if I could even be seen that far down.

But I've never jumped;

I'm alive;

And for that, I'm thankful.
